August 12, 2017, 11:58 am

The Institution of Engineers (IEI) Kuwait Chapter conducted its second seminar for the current year 2017-18 at Kohinoor Restaurant, Fahaheel on 17 July for all the Engineers in Kuwait. Engineers turned out in large numbers to attend the seminar as a part of the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programme of the Chapter.

The Chairman of the chapter Egr. Ajay Sharma welcomed the members to the function and invited the master of ceremony Egr. Sam Ananth to introduce the speakers. The Commercial attaché from the Embassy of India was a special guest for the seminar.

The introduction of the speaker was done by Egr Sudhir Menghani. The topic of the seminar was 'Career Advancement for Engineers a Holistic Perspective', which was delivered by Egr Sunil Pullarcot a Senior Engineer working with the Kuwait Oil Company.

The presentation walked us through the critical situations in our life after we took the decision to become an Engineer and the further development of the individual. The quality of life of the individual increases as the individual gains valuable experience in different paths of life. Even though we don’t land in our dream jobs in life we have to make use of the available environment to the best of our development. Each day of our life moulds us to the professional maturity. The Career progression and success in life comes from the work life balance. Many people have lost their virtue in the chase of success. As Albert Einstein once said,” Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of Value” The Engineer should strive to achieve the holistic development of the individual by practising art, music, reading and exercising daily.

The members enjoyed the presentation which was followed by a lively question and answer session. The vote of thanks was proposed by the General Secretary of the Chapter Egr. Thomas John. He highlighted the chapters activities which are to come during the year. The next seminar will be conducted jointly for the members and their family on a health related topic. Egr Thomas John also informed that the response from the members by their attendance in large numbers encourages the chapter to conduct more such events in the future.

The seminar ended with a sumptuous dinner.
