IDF treats members to a musical Ghazal concert
May 23, 2015, 5:22 pm

Indian Doctors Forum arranged a rather relaxed and musical evening of Ghazals for its members on Friday, 22 May 2015 at the auditorium of India Learners Own Academy. The singers were Ustad Rais Bale Khan and Ustad Hafiz Bale Khan, renowned Kirana Gharana Sitar players as well as Ghazal singers from Dharwad in Karnataka. Belonging to the illustrious family of Rahimat Khan their great grandfather, Abdul Karim Khan their grandfather and Bale Khan their father who brought Sitar playing to the common people, the brother duo have earned a reputation for jugalbandi in Sitar playing and Ghazal singing.

The program started with a welcome address by Dr. Vinod Grover President of IDF. Dr. Vivek Wani Vice President of IDF introduced the singers to the audience, and also introduced the accompanying Tabla artist Adarsh Shenoy from Bangalore. The Bale Khan brothers enthralled the audience first with a rendition of ‘Raag Janasammohini’ on the Sitar.

They then sang some of the popular ghazals like ‘aaj jaane ki zid na karo’, ‘chupke chupke raat bhar’, ‘hotho ko chhu lo tum mera geet amar kar do’, ‘ka karoon sajni aye na baalam’ and many more songs that entertained the audience.  They also showed their musical versatility by beautifully singing a Kannada Bhajan. The audience enjoyed the whole program.

General Secretary Mr. Jaffer efficiently compeered the program and proposed a vote of thanks. Web Managers of IDF  Dr. Senthil and Dr. Manish took care of the arrangements.
