May 7, 2017, 3:41 pm

The Indian Community School (ICSK) Khaitan celebrated World Book Day on 23 April with real excitement and exultation. A special assembly was conducted by the students of classes VII – IX to mark the importance of reading books. Children were encouraged to explore the pleasure of reading books and to promote reading, publishing and copyrighting. A motivational video was presented that encouraged students to push themselves every day and to become the very best version of themselves.

The highlight of the day was the Fancy Dress show where students from classes VII - IX dressed up as their favorite book heroes, literary characters and exhibited the spirit of an ardent book reader. A band of students dressed as Alice in Wonderland, Thumbelina, Tom Sawyer, Sleeping Beauty, Sherlock Holmes, Harry Potter among others, added life to each and every fictional character. A mime performed by Class IX was another interesting performance that added beauty to the special assembly.

The principal delivered an inspiring speech and highlighted the significance of reading books. The children were also encouraged to read more and more books and discover more about books and authors. Badges were distributed to the Principal and all teaching faculty to celebrate World Book Day. Beautiful and colorful charts featuring famous quotes of great authors decorated the school campus. The exhibition of the ‘Big Book’ prepared by the students was also a remarkable one.
