Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hussein Amir Abdullahyan said on Friday that His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's upcoming visit to Iran is a step towards strengthening regional cooperation.
Iran is interested to increasing cooperation with neighboring countries in general and Kuwait in particular, Abdullahyan added in a press statement He pointed out President Hassan Rouhani eyes greater bilateral and regional cooperation to maintain the region security and stability.
He noted that His Highness the Amir's talks with Iranian officials will tackle security challenges in the region countering extremism and sectarian conflicts. Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif stated to KUNA that His Highness the Amir's upcoming visit to Tehran will further boost bilateral relations.
He underlined that both nations are eager to further boost relations on all possible spheres and specifically within the economic domain. Meanwhile, Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs Hoshyar Zebari said today that His Highness the Amir's visit to Tehran is of significance importance on the region's level. "We are pining high hopes on this visit," he said.
"Everyone awaits the visit of His Highness the Amir and Kuwaiti officials to Tehran due to its major importance," Zebari stated to KUNA on the sideline of the 17th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Ministerial Conference, which concluded yesterday.
