His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah chaired, at Seif Palace on Sunday, an extraordinary cabinet meeting.
The meeting was attended by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim, and Deputy Minister of the Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah.
During the meeting, His Highness the Amir elaborated on the good outcomes of the 35th session of the GCC Summit which was held in Doha on Tuesday and discussed all issues that concern the GCC countries and ways and means of bolstering and shoring up the GCC, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah said in a statement following the meeting.
His Highness the Amir briefed the cabinet on the resolutions and outcomes of the summit, which mainly aimed to push forward cooperation among the six GCC member states in various domains, including security, economic and political ones, the minister said.
His Highness the Amir noted that the GCC had adopted interior ministers' recommendations to create a Gulf Police in Abu Dhabi, agreed to speed up the mechanisms of establishing a joint Gulf military command, approved a joint naval force, a Gulf Human Rights Declaration, and supported efforts of cooperation and integration among the GCC member states, especially in the economic domain.
His Highness the Amir went on to say the GCC countries reiterated opposition to all manifestations of extremism and terrorism, condemned ideological extremism, vowed to stand united against terrorism and to stop the flow of all financial resources of terrorism, and welcomed the UNSC resolution that condemns human rights violations in Iraq and Syria, the minister added.
His Highness the Amir said, the GCC leaders, in their final communique, reaffirmed firm support to Egypt's stability and stressed its significant role on Arab and regional arenas for the common interest of Arabs and Muslims.
His Highness the Amir also briefed the cabinet meeting on the outcomes of his talks and meetings with other GCC leaders on the sidelines of the summit, which focused on how to further cement and consolidate relations among the GCC countries in line with the main goals of the GCC.
His Highness the Amir thanked other GCC leaders for congratulating him on the recent UN honoring as a "Humanitarian Leader", boasting that it was honoring to all the GCC countries, their leaders and people, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah added.
His Highness the Amir highly appreciated Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani's efforts and wise management during the recent GCC summit, the minister said.
At the end of the meeting, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah appreciated His Highness the Amir's efforts to beef up Gulf ties and bonds.
They also highly commended the sincere efforts of other GCC leaders during the GCC summit in Doha, and voiced much satisfaction with the positive and fruitful outcomes of the gathering, mainly keenness on the fulfillment of the Gulf people's expectations and hopes for more achievements, welfare and stability.
