His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah called, on Wednesday, for promoting cooperation and coordination between Morocco and GCC member states to open new horizons so as to meet aspirations of nations.â€¨
This came during a speech delivered by His Highness the Amir at the GCC-Moroccan Summit, in which GCC leaders and heads of delegations, and Moroccan King Mohammed VI are taking part.
â€¨"This meeting is held at a time when our Arab and Muslim nations are going through critical economic and political conditions," His Highness said.â€¨
"So this needs mutual coordination, continued consultations and big cooperation with Morocco to give the current strategic partnership additional dimensions and new horizons for meeting our aspirations," he added.â€¨
GCC member states are proud of having prestigious historic and deep-rooted relations with Morocco, he said, noting that "we have been seeking to develop these relations to the level that reflects their depth.â€¨
His Highness the Amir stressed the necessity of boosting this partnership as well, calling for unity among nations to face challenges.â€¨Concluding his speech, His Highness the Amir expressed his hope that the summit would succeed in achieving the goals.â€¨
The summit seeks to coordinate stances to face challenges and threats in the region as well as share views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.â€¨
In 2011, GCC member states and Morocco have launched a path of mutual cooperation in economic and development fields.â€¨In 2014, volume of trade exchange between the two sides hit USD 3 billion, Morocco's imports reached USD 2.7 billion.
