His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah called, on Wednesday, for promoting cooperation and coordination between Morocco and GCC member states to open new horizons so as to meet aspirations of nations.

This came during a speech delivered by His Highness the Amir at the GCC-Moroccan Summit, in which GCC leaders and heads of delegations, and Moroccan King Mohammed VI are taking part.

"This meeting is held at a time when our Arab and Muslim nations are going through critical economic and political conditions," His Highness said.

"So this needs mutual coordination, continued consultations and big cooperation with Morocco to give the current strategic partnership additional dimensions and new horizons for meeting our aspirations," he added.

GCC member states are proud of having prestigious historic and deep-rooted relations with Morocco, he said, noting that "we have been seeking to develop these relations to the level that reflects their depth.

His Highness the Amir stressed the necessity of boosting this partnership as well, calling for unity among nations to face challenges.
Concluding his speech, His Highness the Amir expressed his hope that the summit would succeed in achieving the goals.

The summit seeks to coordinate stances to face challenges and threats in the region as well as share views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

In 2011, GCC member states and Morocco have launched a path of mutual cooperation in economic and development fields.
In 2014, volume of trade exchange between the two sides hit USD 3 billion, Morocco's imports reached USD 2.7 billion.
