The Hejira new year (Islamic new year) holiday falls on Wednesday, 14 October, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) said on Wednesday. The CSC has instructed all ministries and state bodies and institutions that the holiday begins on Wednesday and lasts for two days, according to a CSC statement.

It is up to state agencies of special status to set up their own holiday schedule, but the public interest should be taken into consideration, it added.
