Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health Dr. Khaled Al-Sahlawi asserted Monday that the cardiovascular diseases prevention and treatment programs are top on the MoH's plan of action.
Speaking to heads of the cardiovascular diseases departments at the ministry premises, Al-Sahlawi said that the ministry is keen on controlling the cardiovascular diseases and its risk factors. He clarified that the minister has instructed the medicines and medical equipment sector to provide cardiovascular departments with the state-of-the-art equipment and medicines.
Kuwait's hospitals and healthcare centers' success in dealing with heart diseases and saving the lives of patients match that of the world's leading cardiovascular hospitals, he underlined.
Al-Sahlawi noted that the meeting also tackled several proposals to increase the awareness about and control risks factors that lead to the spread of such diseases.
According to the World Health Organization, the cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the number one cause of death globally: more people die annually from CVDs than from any other cause.
Most cardiovascular diseases can be prevented by addressing behavioural risk factors such as tobacco use, unhealthy diet and obesity, physical inactivity and harmful use of alcohol using population-wide strategies.
