Director of the Hawally Health sector, Dr. Fahd Al-Foudari said he supports the proposal which calls on the expatriates to buy their medicines or at least part of the cost, reports local daily. He added more than 60 percent visitors to the Hawalli medical facilities and the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital, are expatriates.

He pointed out the proposal should be accompanied by further tightening control on the private sector to prevent any manipulation of price of medicines. Al-Foudari explained the increase in fees for health services on expatriates will reduce the pressure on hospitals, and will have a strong impact on solving the problem of overcrowding.

However there is fear that the health condition of the expatriate may become complicated if he/she is unable to undergo diagnostic radiation or analysis and as a result it may cost the state more.
