Farwaniya securitymen launched a campaign at “Souk Haramiya” in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and confiscated rotten foodstuffs and used electrical appliances. Owners of the items escaped, as the police arrived at the scene. Security sources said security team led by Major General Fahad Al-Shuwei carted away a quantity of expired foodstuffs which the hawkers abandoned after sighting the police.

The items were destroyed in coordination with Farwaniya Municipal branch. In an unrelated development, Farwaniya patrolmen arrested a man who tried to run away on foot after they asked for his civil ID. Later, they discovered the suspect was operating a network for stealing international calls. The officers confiscated 29 land phones, 12 Internet gadgets, four watches, and three computers after raiding his hideout. They also uncovered the suspect was living in the country illegally. He was referred to concerned authorities.
