H.H the Amir UN honoring "is a source of pride for us" - OIC chief
Honoring His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as a "Humanitarian Leader" from the highest international organization is a "source of pride for us," Secretary General of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Iyad Madani said Wednesday. In a speech at the opening of the 42nd session of OIC's ministerial meeting, Madani said "granting His Highness this title came in recognition of His Highness's illustrious and unpresented efforts in humanitarian work and for humanity."
His Highness the Amir was given the title "Humanitarian Leader" and Kuwait as a "Humanitarian Center" in a special ceremony held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on September 9, 2014.
Madani said the State of Kuwait, since its independence, had adopted a humanitarian and developmental approach in order to help countries in need regardless of geographical, religious or ethnic limitations, and out of its Islamic principle, pointing out in this regard to the role played by Kuwaiti charity societies, which have many benevolent projects, especially in Asia and Africa.
