The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has asked all government offices to respect the law and the regulations allotted by CSC concerning sick leaves and the rights of employees, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting informed sources. They stressed that the decision taken by the officials of Kuwait Municipality and Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor to not recognize any sick leave taken by the employees during the three days following Eid al-Fitr holidays is not based on any legal condition or law. The sources clarified that according to the conditions allotted by CSC, an employee has the right to provide the medical report related to his sick leave to the sector in charge of administrative affairs at his workplace within maximum six months.
The employee also has the right to take his 15-day sick leave anytime within the year and the employer does not have the right to refuse it. They insisted that the officials have to reconsider their decision and abide by the rights of the employees. In case any change is necessary, the only authority responsible for implementing that change is Civil Service Commission.
An employee has the right to file a complaint at CSC or the Administrative Court in case of any injustice. In another development, Director of Sabah Hospital Dr. Abbas Ramadan declared that the Bedoun employees of Sabah Health Zone, who are being paid based on wage system, will have to register their daily attendance through the fingerprint system, as per instructions from Undersecretary of Ministry of Health Dr. Khalid Al-Sahlawi.
