A German heart center in the city of Frankfurt has conducted catheterization operations for seven German patients using a device invented by Kuwaiti Cardiologist and Head of Cardiac Catheterization Department at Al-Sabah Chest Diseases Hospital Dr. Ibrahim Al-Rashdan.
Dr. Al-Rashdan has also participated with the German medical team in the operations.
In a statement to KUNA following the successful operations, Dr. Rashdan stated that the German medical team has expressed great interest and admiration of the device.
He noted that his device helps doctors remove the dye injected during catheterization before it reaches kidneys to avoid any harmful side effects on kidneys.
Dr. Al-Rashdan has recently received the second prize of an international cardiology conference in Paris for his invention of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB).
He has got a patent for inventing the CPB and the CE Mark Approval for marketing it at the European markets.
His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has also conferred Dr. Al-Rashdan with the Order of Kuwait of first grade in honor of his achievements and services to the homeland.
