GMTC awarded US$ 18-million contract from JGSK, Japan

M/s Gulf Maritime General Trading & Contracting Company WLL, (GMTC) has been awarded the US$ 18 million, On-Shore Transportation Contract of Clean Fuel Project Package for Mena Al Ahmadi  (MAA) by EPC Contractor M/s JGSK, Japan.  M/s JGSK is a consortium consist of three companies, ie. M/s JGC Corporation of Japan, M/s GS Engineering of Korea and M/s SK Engineering of Korea. 

GMTC is a 45 years old Shipping & Logistics Company, belongs to Al Kazemi Group which in business operations for last 62 years in Kuwait.  GMTC, who is specialised in Shipping Agency & Project Logistics, is an approved Freight Forwarding & Transportation Company with KNPC to handle contracts up to KD 10 million. GMTC an ISO & HSC certified Company, has successfully handled Cargo Logistic of more than 16 Oil and Infrastructure projects during last 15 years Kuwait.

The scope of the On-Shore transportation Contract covers, Customs Clearance and Transportation of approximately 762,000 Freight Tones of Break Bulk Cargo and about 7750 Containerised Cargo from Port to Job site. During the peak season in Feb, 2016, the number of Trailer required for transportation is estimated around 2,978 for the month. The cargo consists of Heavy Super heavy and super over dimensional units.  The longest piece is 80 meters, widest is 12 meters and highest 12.5 meters. The heaviest unit is 850 metric tons. 

GMTC is partnering with M/s Al Majdouie Logistics, Saudi Arabia (who is a winner of Guinness Book of World Records for Heavy Lift transportation) in executing the contract. The challenge to successful execution of the project is completing customs clearance process and deliveries with in shortest time under the existing govt. process and Port infrastructure limitations. But GMTC is very confident that with the support of Ministries, Port and Customs Authorities, we will be able to execute the project successfully.

GMTC together with Al Majdouie is looking forward to focus more in Kuwait Project Market and to handle Projects of bigger sizes in future.
