Minister of Public Works, Electricity and Water Abdulaziz Al-Ibrahim said Wednesday that power has been restored in all areas in the country, after a blackout due to glitch to one of the land lines affected Al-Subbyia power station, which was transmitting at the time 2,000 megawatts.
The minister told KUNA that his ministry did activate immediately the emergency plan, noting that the time of the blackout was between 7:00 to 8:00 pm local time.
Al-Ibrahim explained that measures used in the emergency plan included the use of electrical link with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), in addition to the closure of the Al-Subbyia line station in order to bring the situation to normal.
The minister added that power gradually returned to the affected areas starting from 7:26 pm (local time), and returned completely to all areas at 10:14 pm.
The minister apologized on behalf of the ministry to all citizens and residents to this sudden blackout and to circumstances beyond the control of the ministry, expressing sincere thanks to all for their cooperation and understanding.
