The Criminal Court sentenced a business mogul and former senior official of Kuwait Airways Corporation to five years in prison with hard labor, while his son and a Syrian worker in his company were given three and a half years jail term each with hard labor and KD 3,000 bail bond to suspend execution of the judgment.
The sentences were passed over allegations of illegal connection of electricity to a hotel belonging to the businessman, as the Public Prosecution Department accused the defendants of falsifying official documents. Meanwhile, the court nullified a previous verdict that sentenced a Kuwaiti man to 10 years in prison with hard labor for alleged forgery and theft. The citizen was charged for stealing a phone belonging to a female investigator whom he allegedly intimidated. The court thereby sentenced the man to two years in prison with hard labor.
