Fishing ‘meide’ to start from June 1 until November 30

Chairperson of the Board of Directors and Director- General of the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) Nabila Al-Khalil has issued a decision to permit fishing ‘meide’ in Kuwaiti territorial waters as of June 1 until November 30 next with the exception of Kuwait Bay and three miles from the coast and the Kuwaiti island.

She continued saying the ‘exception’ areas include the eastern part within three miles off the coast of Bubiyan Island from Ras Al Barsha in the south until Raas Al-Qaid in the north and Meskan, Failaka and Ouha islands unless the Ministry of Defense or the Ministry of Interior issues a decision contrary to this.

She added the decision necessitates issuing a monthly license to fish in the excepted areas and it will be from 6:00 am until 6:00 pm.

Moreover, the owner of the license will be given a permission to enter and exist as per the regulations and conditions allotted in this regard. The official stressed anyone found violating the provisions of this decision will be liable to punishment as provided in Decree- Law No. (46) of the year 1980 concerning preservation of fish stocks.
