Farwaniya Governor Sheikh Faisal Al- Humoud Al-Malek Al-Sabah affirmed on Friday stressed the need for preparing a “moderate” new generation to spread the spirit of fraternity and solidarity, and convey Islam’s message of tolerance and rejection of extremism.

Sheikh Faisal Al-Humoud made the call after ceremony for honoring winners of a Quran recitation and memorization competition, attended by Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Yaqoub Al-Sanea and Al- Azhar Council of Senior Scholars Dr. Ahmad Omar Hashim, also former President of Al-Azhar University. The Governor underscored the need to disseminate teachings of true Islam, and joining forces to combat extremism in Kuwaiti society.

Sheikh Faisal referred to the terrorist attack that hit Al- Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque in Kuwait city two weeks ago killing 26 people and wounding 227 others. He pointed out that His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s arrival at the scene just after the suicide explosion took place was “a strong message targeting those tempted to tamper with our security and national unity.”
