Ethiopians caught for sheltering, providing jobs to runaway maids

Two Ethiopian men have been arrested for running an illegal business using Ethiopian housemaids who have been reported as absconding after they ran away from their sponsors, reports Al-Seyassah daily. According to sources, when securitymen received information about a gang of two men who have been providing work to runaway housemaids for KD 150 each, they conducted investigations.

After confirming the information, they arrested the two Ethiopians and referred them to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against them. Meanwhile, an Ethiopian taxi driver and two housemaids were arrested while they were in his taxi in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh. A receipt of a bogus domestic workers agency was found in their possession. During investigations, securitymen discovered that he was reported as absconding while one of the suspects was using the Civil ID of another individual.

Inmate commits suicide

An Ethiopian inmate of Central Prison committed suicide by hanging herself inside her cell, reports Al- Seyassah daily. According to security sources, securitymen rushed to the location after receiving information about the suicide. They referred the corpse to the Forensics Department and have registered a case for investigations regarding the cause of the suicide.
