June 25, 2018, 8:12 am

Eid Al-Adha holidays, which will be in the month of August, can be either for five days or nine days depending on when Dhu Al-Hijjah month starts and the Cabinet’s decision, quoting reliable sources.

They explained that, in case it is confirmed that the start of Dhu Al-Hijjah is on Monday, 13 August, the holidays will be for five days. The Arafat Waqfa (Standing on Mount Arafat) will be on Tuesday, 21 August and the first day of Eid will be on Wednesday, 22 August.

The five-day holidays will include four days of Eid (Wednesday to Saturday) and Arafat Waqfa day (Tuesday). Work will resume on Sunday, 26 August. If Dhu Al-Hijjah is confirmed to start on 12 August , then Arafat Waqfa will be on Monday, 20 August and the first day of Eid Al-Adha will be on Tuesday, 21 August.

In this case, the holidays will be for nine days from Friday, 17 August to Saturday, 25 August. However, whether Sunday, 19 August will be a holiday or not since it lies between Saturday (weekend) and Monday (Arafat Waqfa) depends on the decision of the Cabinet.
