The Interior Ministry Relations and Security Information Department revealed in a statement yesterday that four Egyptians including a woman were arrested for speaking ill of the State of Kuwait on social media. The suspects stand accused of hurting the image of Kuwait through the use of denigrating words.
Among the messages were prompts to the Egyptian community to hold a demonstration in front of the Egyptian Embassy and sowing discord following the recent fight around a well-known mall in Hawally that ended with one murder and several injuries.
The MoI named the arrestees as Waleed Mahmoud Ahmad Suwaisi, an MoI employee, Yasser Abdulaziz, a Holy Quran teacher in the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Mustafa Mahmoud Mahfoudh, an employee in a taxi company, and Muna Mahmoud Ali Shahata, a school cleaner.
The four have been taken into the custody of the concerned authorities.
