EEAK (Egyptian Engineers Association of Kuwait) organized a 5 km marathon run on 2 March in Salmiya, from McDonalds Restaurant in the beach area to the Kuwaiti Engineers Association grounds at Dasman. The 5th EEAK Marathon Race saw participation from a large gathering of 350 people of different nationalities, gender and age groups. A statement was made by Eng. Haitham Abu Samra, the Chief of the Organizing Committee of Marathon 2018.

The EEAK decided to hold the 5 km marathon run as one of the rising concerns of the expat community in Kuwait is the sudden health issues affecting the majority of people caused by a disinterest in physical activities among the new and old generation.  With the aim to encourage the expats in Kuwait to dedicate time for sports activities and daily exercises, the marathon run was held to highlight the importance of physical exercises to avoid adverse health conditions like obesity.

After the run, the final ceremony of the event was organized at Dasman ground where all attendees received medals, and the winners were given trophies and cash prizes. The event was attended by Madam Hind Al Hazzah, Chairman Public Authority for Sports, Kuwait who thanked EEAK for their noble project and appreciated the works of other participants like Shifa Al Jazeera Medical Center.  Miss Mona Hassan, Marketing Manager, Shifa Group, Kuwait was honored with the awarding of a memento of appreciation for coordinating the Medical Camp activities.

As part of social responsibility, Shifa Group conducts free medical camps like this in different regions of Kuwait on a regular basis.  The Group stands for ‘Prevention is Better than Cure’ and strongly encourages everyone to take better care of their health by engaging in physical activities daily.
