Dual SIM phones are the best; no ‘two’ ways about it

A good rear and front camera, a decent battery life, oodles of memory space, a fast processor that creates agile responses… these and several other features have shaped our choices when buying a smartphone.

However, the often-ignored parameter of a dual SIM is now gaining prominence more than ever and is serving as a deciding factor for consumers who desire to have two worlds, packed in one device. A dual SIM phone allows you to hold two numbers and two identities at once. You can make or receive calls and send or receive texts on either number and give each number only to the people that you chose.

Microsoft Lumia has explored the rise of dual SIM phones in the region and below are some reasons why opting for a dual SIM phone makes lives more simple and productive.

Only one phone: Carrying two phones—one for work and one for personal use is a bit of chore, especially during times of morning rush, when all you want to do is get out of the house and reach office. On such occasions, our second phone always remains behind. For those who remember to carry their phone, forget to carry the charger, resulting in the tussle to save its battery life.

A dual SIM smartphone is therefore, a blessing to all such users who want to keep their identities in one place and in their palm. What more, a single smartphone with dual SIM will also free up that space in your pocket or handbag and its sleek design and bright colours will give you that much needed style statement!

Travelling: A dual SIM phone comes handy when you are travelling abroad. On foreign vacations or on business trips, we mostly tend to buy a local SIM to make local calls. However, to stay in touch with contacts back home, we are forced to remove the local SIM and insert the original SIM. This ‘to and fro’ exercise is time consuming and annoying, especially if you are caught up with some important work. With a dual SIM, you can keep your original SIM intact in the phone while also use the local SIM purchased.

With the latest Microsoft Lumia devices coming packed with built-in Skype and pre-installed Office suite-Word, Excel and PowerPoint and OneNote, you can connect with your loved ones instantly while also work on the go. What more, with 15GB of free cloud storage on OneDrive, you can save and sync your memories securely and access them whenever you want.

Optimising operator tariffs: Consumers are mostly driven by a desire for optimising tariffs and taking advantage of better and cheaper deals offered by operators. Using two SIM cards in one phone will therefore allow you to enjoy the best of both worlds. Also, if you don’t want to spend heaps of money on one big plan, or if money is tight, the only option might be to have the cheapest plan available. Most of the time this will mean you’ll be sacrificing some added perks, such as 1000 text messages, or free international calls. Sometimes it might be cheaper to opt for two tariffs with two separate SIM cards. If that is the case, then owning a dual SIM phone means you can do everything you want, from one phone.

Microsoft Lumia’s Smart Dual SIM

Microsoft Devices has well understood the power of the dual SIM and is consistently striving to make it innovative and affordable to everyone. This is evident with the launch of dual SIM variants alongside single SIM phones, which were recently unveiled to public. The highly affordable phones such as the Lumia 535, Lumia 435 and Lumia 532 come with dual SIM slots, allowing you to take control of your mobile costs with ease and be reachable to all your friends and colleagues with Smart Dual SIM.

Smart Dual SIM allows you to be reachable on both SIM cards, at any given time. For instance, if you had a phone with two SIM cards and you were on a call on one SIM, any call to the other SIM would be missed and you could easily miss an important call. With Smart Dual SIM, rather than the caller hearing a dead tone, the call to the second SIM will be forwarded to the first one, connecting the calls. The same thing happens the other way around, too. No matter which SIM is activated, the other one will divert any communication between the both of them.

With Microsoft Lumia phones, both the SIM contacts are saved separately so that managing them and making calls is at its convenient best. Not just this, Microsoft Lumia makes the experience an interesting one by making available two sets of phone diallers and messaging tiles, one for each SIM on the start screen.
