Customs officers at Air Cargo confiscated four million narcotic pills worth KD 8 million that arrived from Lebanon in a cargo containing domestic commodities.
Meanwhile,officials from Ministry of Interior confiscated 142 kilograms of hashish that was sent from Iran via sea.
In addition, customs officers at Abdali border checkpoint confiscated 144 kilograms of hashish that arrived from Iraq. Security sources revealed that security and customs departments have confiscated large quantities of drugs in the past 48 hours and have started interrogating the smugglers and suspects. Two Bedoun men were arrested for attempting to smuggle 140 kilograms of hashish into the country from a neighboring country.
According to a press statement issued by Ministry of Interior, when the Acting Director General of Directorate General for Drug Control Colonel Waleed Al-Duraie received information about the duo’s intention to smuggle the illicit drugs into the country, a taskforce team was formed for investigations. After confirming the information and securing an arrest warrant, the team arrested the suspects who confessed to the crime.
They took the team as well as officers from Coast Guard Department to their hideout in the sea where the hashish was hidden. The suspects were referred with the hashish to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against them.
