Interior Ministry Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs Maj Gen Abdullah Al-Muhanna instructed all traffic departments to revoke all driving permits (istimara) that were issued before the new traffic law which sets the new rules and conditions to get a driving license. This decision applies to those who did not complete all the procedures of issuing licenses before Dec 7, 2014, the date of the new law’s issuance, as they got their licenses before this date and did not complete the rest of the procedures until after Dec 7.
Food security strategy mulled
The Investment Public Authority (IPA) promised to announce its new food security strategy, which is being currently set in collaboration with an international advisor and representatives from MoCI, PAAAFR, KLTT and KFMBC, on March 16. Informed sources stressed that the Cabinet had asked IPA to set a specific strategy on investing in food security abroad in order to cover Kuwait’s needs of strategic foodstuff for the next 25 years. The sources added that an international consultancy body was assigned to set the strategy in collaboration with the World Bank.
Extradition of citizen sought
Diplomatic sources said the Kuwait government is trying to extradite the Kuwaiti citizen who was working as the finance attache at Kuwait’s Washington health office and who was accused of money laundering by American authorities, to be tried in Kuwait. The sources said that her attorney may succeed in reaching an agreement with the American prosecutor, in which she confesses to the charges in exchange for deporting her and not allowing her entry in the US again.
