A group of judges and advisers have initiated steps to reject the draft law which has been submitted by the Council of Ministers earlier this week to the National Assembly to what it calls ‘Organize the Judiciary’, reports Al-Qabas daily.
However, the judges have filed a complaint with the Public Prosecution calling for the removal of two undersecretaries of ministries of Finance and Justice from their posts for failing to implement the final verdicts which had earlier been issued in favor of the judges.
A judicial source told the daily the judges did not intend to file complaints, but due to lack of government seriousness they had no option. The draft law has been rejected by about 50 judges and an adviser. The source said the proposed law in its current form is utilized to exploit the judiciary and not to protect its independence.
