Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Saba has approved the proposed increase in residency fees for expatriates and fines for traffic violations.
They indicated that the two proposals will be presented to the National Assembly within the next few weeks for inclusion in the agenda of the relevant parliamentary committee.
The sources explained that the proposed increases shall be as follows:
Fees of dependent visas for parents will be KD 300 each, for wife KD 200 and for children KD 150 each.
In terms of tourist visas, one-month visit visa, which was free, will now cost KD 30 and can be renewed maximum for three months.
Fees for residency under the public or private sector or temporary residency will be KD 20 for a year.
For crossing red light – KD 100
For exceeding speed limit – KD 40 (exceeding by 20 km/hr) and KD 100 (50km/hr)
Fines of all other traffic violations have been doubled such that fines which were KD 30 are now KD 60 and those ranging between KD 10 and KD 15 are now in the range of KD 20 and KD 30.
