Dasman Diabetes Institute signs an MoU with Sanofi

Dasman Diabetes Institute, which was established by Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), signed a memorandum of understanding with Sanofi to enter into two collaborative projects. One collaborative project named 'Kids and Diabetes in School Project (KiDS) ' and the second project named 'Good Clinical Practices Training'.

The 'KiDS' program goals are to raise awareness of diabetes and the benefits of healthy diets and physical activities among school-age children, and also to foster a safe and supportive school environment for children with diabetes to manage their diabetes and avoid discrimination.

The 'Good Clinical Practices Training' goal is to improve the local clinical research capabilities through training, clinical trials and research, thereby improving the quality of life of people with diabetes.

On this occasion, Dr. Ebaa Al-Ozairi, Chief Medical Officer at Dasman Diabetes Institute commented, “Dasman Diabetes Institute is known for its outstanding research institution, in addition to its national and leading role in preventing, controlling, and mitigating the impact of diabetes and related conditions in Kuwait”.

She added, “Kuwait ranks as one of the top countries in the world as to the number of diabetes diagnosis every year, hence it has become crucial to act to reduce the risk of this disease with increasing awareness”.

This MoU was signed in the presence of the French Ambassador to Kuwait H.E. Marie Masdupuy,  who commented, “Medical and scientific cooperation have been an important agenda in our valued relations with Kuwait. Building on the expertise of Sanofi as a leading healthcare company, France renews its strong support to the community here in its efforts to address key healthcare topics such as diabetes. The partnership between Dasman Diabetes Institute and Sanofi represents an opportunity to further a shared mission that benefits the people, especially the youth, of this country”.

Finally, Jean-Paul Scheuer, Country Chair & General Manager for Sanofi in Gulf Countries, commented, “With a shared goal of improving the lives of children and adults with diabetes in Kuwait, at Sanofi, we are delighted to be part of a strategic partnership with Dasman Diabetes Institute,”. He added, “Through the implementation of kids program and Good Clinical Practices Training in the country, we further our long-standing commitment to improving patient lives and contributing to the growth of healthy societies.”
