Dasman Diabetes Institute holds graduation ceremony

Dasman Diabetes Institute held a grand ceremony on Thursday, 9 April to honor healthcare professionals who completed the course on ‘Fundamentals of Diabetes: Primary Care Perspectives’.

The one-year blended learning course on diabetes is being delivered at the regionally renowned Dasman Diabetes Institute by the Joslin Diabetes Center, which is affiliated to the prestigious Harvard Medical School in the USA. 

The honoring ceremony was inaugurated by former Minister of Health Prof. Hilal Al-Sayer in the presence of the Executive Director of International Initiatives and Associate clinical professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Antoine Kaldany, Consultant at Endocrinology and Diabetes in Mubarak Hospital Dr. Waleed Al Dhahi and the Director General of Dasman Diabetes Institute Prof. Kazem Behbehani.

Dr. Sayer thanked everyone for attending the ceremony and congratulated the 62 students who graduated with honors from this one-year course.

Also speaking on the occasion were the program’s co-directors Dr. Nuha El Sayed and Dr. Dalia Badawi. Dr. Sayed, who is the Director of International Training programs at Joslin Diabetes Centre and Instructor in medicine at the Harvard Medical School, elaborated on the one-year course and noted that the ultimate goal of the program is to improve the quality of diabetes care within the Primary Healthcare services in the country and for physicians to be trained to treat patients with the latest developments in technology.

Director of planning and development at Dasman Diabetes Institute, Dr. Dalia Badawi then thanked the attendees and invited the awardees to receive their certification from Dr.. Sayer and Dr. Sayed.
