Abdali customs officers have seized 23 falcons coming from Iraq, reports Al-Rai daily. The daily said the birds were brought in a number of bags placed inside a box in such a manner that no sound was heard outside the bag.

When the driver of the car was confronted he said the falcons were brought on behalf of a passports officer who had promised to help him get the birds in the country without any problem.

The daily added, a customs officer while checking the bag became suspicious because of the light weight of the bags and ordered the motorist to open one of the bags and found the birds inside. The source pointed out the Director-General of Customs Jamal Jalawi reported the incident to the Environment Public Authority and the birds were referred to the concerned authority.

Meanwhile, the Jahra police have arrested a bedoun for possessing narcotic pills and alcohol, reports Al-Anba daily. The daily added, this happened when a police patrol saw the suspect throwing a tissue paper out of the window and ordered him to pull over. Police found in the tissue a pill and a polyethylene bag filled with whisky. The bedoun has been referred to the Criminal Investigations Department.
