Customs foils bid to smuggle 3,500 bottles of imported liquor

Shuwaikh Port Customs officers recently foiled an attempt to smuggle 3,500 bottles of imported wine from a GCC country.

Sources disclosed the Customs records showed the contents of the shipment were bottles of shampoo but when the officers checked the items, they discovered the bottles of wine.

Sources confirmed the agent, who was waiting to receive the goods, was arrested and referred to the concerned security department for the necessary legal action.

Friday Market crackdown

Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Major General Abdullah Yusuf Al-Muhanna issued a directive to launch a traffic campaign at the Friday Market in coordination with Kuwait Municipality. In a press statement, the ministry revealed this is in compliance with the instructions of Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid.

The campaign led to the impounding of 19 half-lorries, confiscation of plate numbers of 18 trucks for parking in unauthorized places, registration of 160 traffic citations and removal of 10 abandoned vehicles. Al-Muhanna confirmed such traffic campaigns are conducted 24 hours in all areas to reduce violations that could lead to tragic accidents and cause the death of innocent people.
