The Croatian President Kolinda Graber- Kitarovic officially opened the Croatian Embassy in Kuwait on Monday, 6 February in Kuwait City, in the company of Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
Following the ceremony, President Grabar Kitarovic said, “It is extremely important to have an embassy in this part of the world. I saw in these last two days what possibilities exist for the development of business between Croatia and Kuwait, and this part of the world.”
The presidential visit also saw Croatia and Kuwait sign an agreement on mutual exemption of visas for holders of diplomatic, special and service passports. Since the agreement on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Croatia and Kuwait in October 1994, the two countries have signed a number of agreements, including one on the promotion and reciprocal protection of investments in both countries in early 1997, and the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and capital in 2001.
