Crew, pilot 'attacked' after emergency landing in Kuwait

Crew members and a pilot were allegedly attacked after making an emergency landing at Kuwait International Airport en route from Turkey to Iraq due to bad weather, local news paper has reported.

The pilot was forced to detour to Kuwait, where the plane, believed to be operated by Turkish Airlines, waited for 45 minutes before the pilot decided the weather would not clear up in Basra, Iraq, where the plane was due to land.

When the pilot announced the flight would have to return to Istanbul, about 15 Iraqi passengers alleged assaulted cabin crew and forced open the plane doors to prevent the pilot from taking off.

Airport security were called to apprehend the passengers, who were put up in a hotel to wait for another flight to Basra.
