We live in a colourful world so we most of the time dream of colours. The ability to identify colours is considered a milestone in a child's learning process, recognizing and identifying colours is indeed an important part of a child's development.
Children are naturally attracted to colours; hence teaching the concept of colours is easier and interesting. To introduce and familiarize the concept of colours, Jack and Jill Bhavans celebrated 'Colours Week' from 13 April to 17 April 2014. The entire Jack and Jill teaching and non-teaching staff along with the kids were dressed in different colours on different days.
A colour theme was identified and followed on each day to highlight the concept of colours. All the classrooms were decorated with festoons and balloons of the colour chosen.
The purpose of these celebrations was to enable the kids to respond to different colours. They were also demonstrated about primary and secondary colours through rhymes and flash cards and each day an activity was organized in connection with the 'colour day celebrations.' It was indeed a novel and a fun activity which children enjoyed wholeheartedly.
