Chinese firm bags $580 million 'education city' deal in Kuwait
June 7, 2016, 2:29 pm

The Middle East unit for China’s State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) has signed a $580 million contract to build Kuwait’s government-run Sabah Al Salem University City.

The engineering firm will take over the construction, operation, and maintenance of the project’s management facilities, reported Trade Arabia news. The project is set to be one of the world’s largest campuses featuring world-class educational facilities.

It will comprise seven ‘unique-shaped’ buildings including an administration building, a cultural centre, a convocation hall, a conference centre, a university library, a visitor centre, and a grand mosque.

The administration building is especially designed with light screens that result in an interactive shadow and light effect. Sabah Al Salem University City is CSCEC’s second large project secured by its Middle Eastern unit.
