Charity Zumbathon gathered huge crowd

The first Charity Zumbathon 2015, held at the Judo hall of Qadsia Gym Friday morning brought together fitness instructors, students and guests to a two hours of non-stop power-packed workout led by five instructors from different gyms and health centers.

The event kicked off with the registrations of attendees followed by introduction of the event by the head organizer and brief orientation as to mechanics of the competition and criteria for judging. Four judges were introduced, three of whom were diplomats of the Embassy of the United States namely: Shannon Jankord, Li Zhou and Kerry Zhou with Nicoletta Artin a Physical Education teacher from Dasman Model School.

The first half hour elimination round workout was led by Janice Capili that trimmed down three hundred participants to almost half, followed by the second segment presented by Helen Al Rahi and third by Jannet Diokno. Twenty five competitors were left behind the competition towards the last half hour led by Blanche Bravo. Latest cardio workout 'Bokwa' performed by the instructors of Pilates and More took center of the floor prior to the announcement of the winners.

The Philippine Labor Attaché Atty. Cesar Chavez and spouse Mrs. Gwendolyn Chavez awarded the certificates of appreciation to sponsors: Filipino Ambulance Nurses in Kuwait who handled the medical support, Khaled Hayef for the trophies, Apollo Dean and friends for the security, Jumbo Travel, IWOK and Rawan Salon and Pilates and More for their generous major sponsorship of the event.

The Gym team wishes to extend its gratitude to the judges, sponsors and to Maripol Abdallah of FilASEAK and generous donors who raised the amount to pay for the hall rental and sound system Catherine Castillo, Zumbaya Abdullah – Anad Khalaf Al Enezi Abdulaziz Saleh Buhamad, Ms. Teen Philippines 2014 Mariam Raed, Aleli Caburian, Maria Theresa Cortez  -Abdulateef Al Enezi and Laila Venturina. Special thanks to the team of registrars and services who kept the registration process easy and smooth.

Part of the proceeds of the event will be donated to the Filipino Workers Resource Center (FWRC) / Shelter) and organized in observance of 117th Independence Day of the Philippines. The Gym Team also announces that there will be no Zumba classes during the Holy Month of Ramadan to pay respect to the fasting month. Classes will resume after the Eid.
