The Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Kuwait H.E. Frans Potuyt hosted a reception on 27 April at his residence to honor the 49th Birthday of His Majesty Willem-Alexander, the King of Netherlands as well as the third anniversary of his ascension to the throne.
The occasion also marks 100 Years of successful Dutch enterprise in waterworks where the country’s expertise in water management has enabled development of water works and land reclamation projects in the Netherlands and worldwide. The gathering was attended by members of the Diplomatic, government dignitaries, prominent businesspeople, representatives of various cultural organizations and Dutch nationals. Director of the Europe Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Waleed Ali Al-Khubaizi was the guest of honor.
In his address to the guests, Ambassador Potuvt said, “Today we rejoice, as we celebrate the birthday of our King Willem-Alexander and his three years on the throne. At the same time we celebrate together with our Kuwaiti friends the 10 years on the throne of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah.”
He went on to stress the excellent relations between the Netherlands and Kuwait, and pointed out that in 2015, the Netherlands was the first trade partner of Kuwait in Europe. On his part, Ambassador AlKhabeizi commended the “historical” bilateral ties with the Netherlands and highlighted the multitude of bilateral agreements which exemplify the partnership between both countries. He mentioned the recently-opened Visa Application Center where 7,000 to 8,000 visas are issued monthly for Kuwaiti and expats.
