On the occasion of the 148th birthday of Canada and in honor of the 50 years of Kuwait and Canada diplomatic relations, the Canadian Ambassador to Kuwait H.E. Martine Moreau hosted a reception at her residence on 30 November.
Speaking to a gathering of diplomats, distinguished guests, Kuwaiti officials and Canadian nationals, the Ambassador noted that 2015 has been a significant year for Canada with many important events taking place such as new Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the helm of a new government and celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the Canadian flag.
Highlighting 50 years of Kuwait and Canada diplomatic relations, Ambassador Moreau said that the best example of the two countries’ close relationship was the Canadian Armed Forces working with the Armed Forces of Kuwait during the Gulf conflict and, in the aftermath of the Iraqi invasion, Canadian firefighters together with their Kuwaiti counterparts persevering in extinguishing the massive oil well fires.
“Without question, our strong ties, forged in both peace and war, have served to reinforce our common values, strengthen our economies and enhance our shared expertise in varied fields," she stated.
