Canadian Ambassador hosts reception on International Women’s Day
March 10, 2018, 2:09 pm

On the occasion of International Women’s Day that falls on 8 March, Ambassador of Canada to Kuwait H.E. Martine Moreau hosted a reception with the attendance of women leaders in the community whose important work have contributed to the empowerment of women and girls and the advancement of their rights and freedoms here in Kuwait and throughout the world.

The theme for this year’s International Women Day was #PressforProgress, with the objective being to press for increased gender equality and empowerment of women and girls around the world.

Canada has chosen to step up efforts in this regard with the adoption in June 2016 of a feminist foreign policy seeking to reduce extreme poverty and to build a more peaceful, inclusive, and prosperous world. A policy that recognizes that promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls is the most effective approach to achieve this goal. Furthermore, advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment will be a central priority of Canada’s G7 Presidency and the G7 Summit to be hosted in Charlevoix, Quebec in June 2018.

On this occasion, Ambassador Moreau wished all women a very happy Women’s Day.
