The Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) on Tuesday called for proper and civilized way in dealing with the Kuwaiti banknotes in keeping with their symbolic significance derived from the sovereignty and status of the country.

The Bank took note of some people who tend to stick the Kuwaiti banknotes on their bills of exchange to make them seem as if they were issued by the CBK as promotion for the issuers.

These banknotes cannot be used as gifts at Eid Al-Fitr, for example, unless they were removed from the cheques which have nothing to do with the CBK, the Bank said in a statement to KUNA. These practices are improper and uncivilized as they could damage the banknotes and render them invalid for use at the ATM machines, it cautioned.
