British Academies open courses for Term 2
January 17, 2018, 2:37 pm

The British Academies (BA) have kick-started term two with a wide array of courses. The British Academy of Sport (BAS) offers courses that include swimming, football, volleyball, gymnastics, tennis, karate and much more. The British Academy of International Arts (BAIA) offer courses in theatre, speech, dance including modern, jazz, contemporary, tap and ballet, arts and crafts as well as individual music tuition for a variety of instruments. BAIA courses lead to prestigious examinations with a number of UK examination boards; BBO, NATD and LAMDA.

BAS and BAIA also organize spectacular events throughout the year. On the calendar for Term 2 are two volleyball tournaments; the first, the Independence Cup for men in February, followed by the Olympia Cup for women in March. Both events are held on the British School of Kuwait (BSK) campus and are patronized by Embassy teams; they are a major fixture in the sporting calendar in Kuwait.

BAIA is proud to perform their annual dance show, this year entitled Musicality, at the American United School auditorium on 17 February, showcasing dances taken from the most famous and well-known dance shows. In addition to this, BAIA on Broadway, set to be a musical theatre extravaganza, is to be held on 4 and 5 May in BSK. Students are provided with the opportunity to perform hits from the best-known musicals, with both productions giving students the opportunity to put all they have learned into stage practice.

Branching from the success of the trip to Ireland in October 2017, BAS are organising a trip to Singapore in February 2018 where a group of 20 students will take part in a wide variety of sports and teamwork activities focusing on the importance of independence and self-confidence when they are away from the family and how to be disciplined during the sports and leisure activities in a new environment.

The highly qualified coaches and teachers at BAS and BAIA are keen to welcome new students as well as those who have been with the Academies for a number of years. Catering for children from 3-18 years of age, courses complement the extra-curricular activities of school-age children throughout their school lives. BA recognises the importance of promoting sports, performance arts and creative arts to children; a healthy mind and a healthy body are such important aspects of life.

For further information and to enroll, visit the BA office located in Clarence House in Salwa Block 1, Street 1 or call BAIA on 50962809 or BAS on 99458013. Keep up-to-date with the British Academies via Instagram: @baiainq8 and @baskuwait.
