Users of the social networking website Twitter have criticized the Minister of Health Dr Ali Al-Obeidi for blocking a woman instead of taking action on the director of the Maternity Hospital after checking the authenticity of the tweets which were posted by her concerning malpractices at the Maternity Hospital, reports a local daily.
The bloggers say the director of the hospital has blocked the woman because she was criticizing the director for his discriminate behavior, particularly against some doctors in addition to mismanagement. When the woman continued posting tweets on her social networking website, the minister thought it wise to shut her from public view. And, the Al-Bahar Ophthalmology Center witnessed power outage for more than 15 minutes, reports a local daily.
The daily added, such incidents have become a common phenomenon over the past few months. According to reliable sources the power outage happened during surgery and it had to be completed with the help of cell phone light, because the hospital reportedly does not have a power generator.
The sources expressed surprise at the negligence of the Ministry of Health for not providing power generators for hospitals in spite of their importance. Some say the incident is not the first of its kind, but has happened more than once in more than one hospital. The sources added, most recently a surgery was carried out at the Ibn Sina Hospital during power failure which lasted for more than 20 minutes.
