Coast Guard Department foiled two attempts to smuggle a total of 10 birds of prey and 101 bustards into the country via sea. In a press release issued by Ministry of Interior, the ministry’s General Department of Public Relations and Media Security explained that officers from the Coast Guard Department were patrolling the territorial waters in south of Boubyan Island when they stopped a boat based on suspicions and checked the details of the two individuals on board to discover they are Kuwaiti citizens.

They searched the boat to find two large bags which they checked to find 8 birds of prey and 80 bustards. The department revealed that 21 bustards and 2 birds of prey were confiscated from a boat that came from outside Kuwait’s territorial waters. The suspects were arrested and referred with the confiscated birds to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.
