Bhavan hosts an exuberant school carnival

The Indian Educational School ( IES -Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan) Winter Carnival was celebrated in the most joyful fashion with a large gathering of students, parents, and visitors at the carnival venue on Friday, 29 January. The event featured a variety of music, dance, games, mouthwatering delicacies, as well as exciting competitions.

Chairman, Bhavans Middle East N.K. Ramachandran Menon opened the carnival amidst cheers, and the fun started with the crowd clamoring to join the many exciting activities that culminated in the raffle coupon draw at night.  The stalls such as Float the ball, Nut Tree, Blindfold Box, Laser Point, Lucky Locks, Drive the Car, Photo Booth and Fishing the Beads were some of the stalls that attracted onlookers.

Green Corner was a unique stall that introduced and sold a range of flowering and non-flowering plants and garden accessories. Bingo was another area of interest that invited visitors of all ages to enjoy to their heart’s content. 

At the building’s basement was a selection of popular stalls of the carnival, particularly the Magic Show by Prof. Vindrake appealed to children as did the Deal or No Deal stall.

In the Entertainment cum Gaming zone of the carnival, young movie buffs flocked to the ‘Star Wars’ stall, meanwhile quizzes based on Bollywood and Hollywood movie clips witnessed huge participation. The Xbox and the Sony PlayStation game stalls in the basement were also crowded with virtual gamers.

One of the major attractions of the carnival was the ‘White Elephant Stall’, offering miscellaneous items such as computer accessories, toys, dolls, CDs, gaming consoles and many more, donated from the generous contributions of Bhavanites, allowed it to retain the No.1 position this year as well.

The bouncy rides were filled with laughter, as young children immersed themselves in the fun experience of the rides.  The tattoo corner, face painting corner, hair coloring stall, cake and pastry zone, instant portrait corner and the Juke Box were some of the other popular stalls at the Bhavan’s Winter Carnival.

Food kiosks helped warm participants by providing piping hot sizzlers and other food items such as marshmallows, Indian, Arab Veg and Non-Veg food. They were all a gourmand’s delight. The mouth-watering traditional Indian dishes and the delights of the country were relished by all.

The Bhavanites were actively involved in all aspects of the Carnival and even bought the fun with a flash mob performance within the carnival premises. The grace and movement of the IES dancers was indeed a visual treat for the visitors. Some of the visitors and parents also danced to the electrifying tunes.  

The auditorium was packed with cheerful crowds since morning, with everyone cheering the shows and cultural programs organized. The Talent Show and Fashion Show respectively also garnered admiration from onlookers. The winners were given prizes and medals.

Hundreds of music aficionados danced merrily to the tunes released by the DJ Show that caused the auditorium to reverberate with the exhilarating music.

The excitement reached a crescendo with the raffle coupon draw at night with IES Principal Mr. Premkumar announcing the names of the raffle draw winners. The Bumper Prize was a round trip ticket to Singapore.  A 24 Ct Gold Coin weighing 10gm, a 32” LED TV, a Canon DSLR, Android Smartphones, tablets, Apple products, a Samsung Digital Camera, a WD External Hard Disc, Kenwood, Daewoo, Panasonic and Sharp white goods, and an Italian Dinner Set were bagged by the lucky winners. The names of the winners have been published in the school web portal.

Mr. Premkumar thanked the major sponsors viz. Al Ahli Bank Kuwait, Abbott Nutrition, Journeys World Travel agents and a host of IES parents for their gifts and generous contributions. He also thanked the staff and students for their sincere efforts and assistance without which the carnival would not have been such a grand success.

The thrilling carnival of the academic year 2015-2016 ended on a high note, and the popularity of the IES Bhavan Winter Carnival was evident from the many happy faces. The IES Bhavan Winter Carnival has lived up to the hype and met the expectations of the school's beloved students.
