Ahmadi securitymen arrested a Bangladeshi, identified as Abu Al-Kalam, for encouraging housemaids to run away from their sponsors after promising to give them work in other governorates, says a local daily. Acting on a tip-off, Director of Ahmadi Security Directorate Brigadier Ali Al-Meri formed a security team tasked to put the suspect under surveillance.
The suspect was caught red-handed while he was walking around Umm Al-Haiman where he approached housemaids and offered them money for them to use once they decide to escape from their employers. During the arrest, the officers found in the suspect’s possession copies of several passports.
He told the officers that he convinced the housemaids to run away from their sponsors and gave them work in other governorates where they are paid hourly wages. He also rented flats where the runaway maids are staying and he takes half of their wages as his commission. A case was registered and the suspect was referred to the relevant security department for the necessary legal action.
