Director General of Residency Affairs Department Major General Talal Marafie concerning Bangladeshi expatriates, he revealed that the department has banned Bangladeshi expatriates from entering the country on Visa No. 20 or Visa No. 18 due to security reasons, adding that Bangladeshi laborers can be brought to Kuwait only on governmental contracts or as farm laborers.

Furthermore, Major General Marafie said Kuwait, represented by Ministry of Interior, has signed a number of GCC agreements including one to prevent any expatriate who is deported from a GCC country to enter any of them, indicating about a joint database on expatriate workers.

He advised violators of residency law to take advantage of this amnesty because as soon as it is over, unprecedented security campaigns will be launched throughout the country to arrest violators of residency law, affirming that even remote and coastal areas which are regarded as safe haven for the residency law violators will also be covered in these campaigns.

Major General Marafie stressed that any residency law violator who is arrested after the end of amnesty period will be deported and will not be allowed to enter any of the GCC countries.

He denied the circulating rumors about non-renewal of the residencies of Ethiopian laborers, clarifying that recruiting workers from Ethiopia has been suspended but the residencies of those already working in Kuwait are being renewed regularly as long as they do not commit any violations that deserve deportation.

Major General Marafie revealed that the female citizens of a number of countries are banned from coming to Kuwait either as domestic workers on Visa No. 20 or on Visa No. 18 to work in private sector, explaining that these countries are Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Togo, Ethiopia, Senegal, Malawi, Bhutan, Chad, Sierra Leone, Niger, Tanzania, Guinea, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Madagascar and Indonesia.
