Bangladesh embassy and community celebrate Bangla New Year 2018

With the association of Bangladesh Community, the Embassy of Bangladesh in Kuwait arranged a day-long program on the occasion of Bangla New Year (Baishaki Mela) and Development Fair – 2018 with great enthusiasm and festivity at the well know place in Abbasiya Touristic Garden on 4 May. H.E. S M Abul Kalam Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in the State and Chief Sponsor of Baishakhi Mela, Mohd. Shahid Islam Papul inaugurated the program with the cutting of the ribbon.

H.E. the Ambassador delivered his short speech to the audience at the inauguration moment and greeted and thanked the Bangladeshi Expatriates for joining and celebrating the Bangla New Year from all corners of Kuwait. H.E. the Ambassador along with Madame Syeda Sultana Kalam visited Development Fair 2018 stalls set up by Bangladeshi Expatriates. In the evening session, the Ambassador took part in a rally known as ‘Mongol Shobhajatra’ which is organized by the Bangladeshi expatriates. It is noted that the Mongol Shobhajatra got recognition as the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

The colorful cultural program started with singing of the National Anthem of Bangladesh. The talented vocal artist and musician among the Bangladeshi Expatriates in Kuwait took part in the cultural show. The performers rendered folk, modern, chorus, spiritual and patriotic songs, short drama dance etc. which enthralled the audience. Apart from the above, some games were also arranged for children and women in the venue which added color to the event. At the end of the cultural program raffle draw was arranged sponsored by the Embassy H.E. Ambassador distributed the prizes among the raffle draw winner. H.E. also thanked the Chief sponsor and all concerned Bangladeshi expatriates who are involved and supported the Embassy to complete the program successfully. Finally he thanked the Government and people of the State of Kuwait for their permission to arrange the program and continuous supports for the Bangladeshi expatriates in Kuwait.
