Banana Republic unveils Sartorial Summer - Summer 2017 collection
July 4, 2017, 1:41 pm

Banana Republic launched the Sartorial Summer - Summer 2017 collection that is inspired by the lush landscapes and breathtaking coastlines of Africa. The design team researched the history and geography of both mainland and coastal Africa, drawing print and color inspiration from the elements and rich tribal history of the continent. Grounding the offering of saturated print and color, is a focus on summer tailoring and the idea of infusing sartorial flair and technique into each piece of the collection.

May – Land: The May collection is inspired by the plains and desert landscapes of Africa. Grounding the collection is an elevated and contemporary approach to safari and utility in warm neutrals with props and saturated brights. Luxury handed fabrics in supple solids are complemented with rich, Masai
tribe-inspired tartans and plaids.

June – Ocean: June is inspired by the natural beauty of South Africa, its deep blue oceans and laidback culture. The team was inspired to reinvent classic wardrobe staples in a palette of crisp whites and saturated blues. The focus for this collection is on classic stripes, solid-on-solid texture and iconic dressing.

July – Made New: July is inspired by the bustling artist communities of the new Johannesburg. As many artists in the region look to the past to create new work, the design team took that sentiment and aimed to reinvent the classics in a color palette based in French blue, gray and sporty reds. Important to this collection are transitional layering, shirt dresses and sporty-meets-classic styling, offering a variety of pieces that perform to the highest of standards for any summer occasion.
