BSK organizes International Awards Evening
April 30, 2018, 4:03 pm

The British School of Kuwait (BSK) hosted its annual Duke of Edinburgh International Award Ceremony to celebrate the students who have committed their time and energy into completing the Gold, Silver or Bronze International Award this year.

Hosted by the 6th form students Saja Awida and Mohammed AlQaffass, parents and honoured guests were led through a range of high-quality presentations, speeches and videos summarising the year’s events. All of the work for these presentations was produced by the students themselves, highlighting the student-led nature of the evening.

The International Award has become a firm fixture of life at BSK, challenging students to hike and camp as part of adventurous journeys within Kuwait and abroad. These hikes are completely self-sufficient; encouraging the students to improve their communication, organisation and teamwork skills as well as increase their physical capabilities. But the award goes much further than this, giving students the opportunities to learn new skills and volunteer within the community. The awards evening reinforced this message, emphasizing efforts made by students within the community.

The evening illustrated that the International Award is becoming further embedded within the school community and with expeditions for the Gold, Silver and Bronze Award students completed to Nepal, Cyprus and Jordan respectively, the achievements accomplished were outstanding.
