The British School of Kuwait (BSK), in partnership with ScorePlus, the regional operational arm of The Princeton Review, was delighted to host the 2nd National School Counselor’s Forum. School counselors and senior representatives of 26 schools from around Kuwait were welcomed by BSK’s Sixth Form Coordinator, Dr Clifford Cheung, who then introduced Vijay Karvekar, Vice President of ScorePlus; Haridas Panavally, ScorePlus Kuwait Head of Centre; Zdena Hruskova, inlingua Kuwait Academic Head; and keynote speaker, Michael Gamerl, Vice-President of The Princeton Review, who was visiting Kuwait from California, USA.

BSK and ScorePlus were honored to welcome Rasha Al-Muhtaseb, from the Embassy of the United States of America.

Drawing upon over 25 years’ experience in the education industry, Mr. Gamerl shared his vast expertise with the assembled delegates, providing valuable insight into current trends in university and college admissions in the United States, and useful strategies for students to consider when taking the standardised college entrance tests – the SAT and the ACT. This forum not only provided important information that will help school counselors to guide students across Kuwait through their university applications, but it was also an opportunity for schools to network and share their considerable collective expertise.

A bigger event is planned for next year, with interactive sessions and specialist presentations among the items that will complement the invaluable presentation from Mr. Gamerl. It is with great hope that the increasing profile of this event will ultimately have a positive influence on outcomes for students hoping to gain admission into US universities from BSK.
